Founders, husband and wife, Scott Mayer and Susan Nordman, draw on a diverse background to bring together a unique perspective on bodywork and mindful living.
With over 30 years experience in healing, meditation and martial arts, Scott understands both the science and art of bodywork. Having studied with dozens of internationally prominent teachers, he brings a broad perspective to his work. He is a licensed Massage Therapy, Master level Qi Healer and holds certifications as a Qigong Therapist and Hypnotherapist. In his 18 years of therapeutic bodywork he has worked with over 10,000 people, he specializes in Shiatsu and CranioSacral Therapy. He has conducted hundreds of classes and lectures at medical schools, universities, massage schools and Five Star resort spas throughout the East Coast.
Scott maintains professional affiliations with the American Massage Therapy Association, the National Guild of Hypnotists, the National Qigong Association and the Chinese Healing Arts Center. He holds a degree in Immunology and Biochemistry, has worked as a cancer research scientist at Harvard Medical School, an Information Technology Manager for NY/NJ universities, owned and operated an award winning Botanicals business with Susan. His passions include studies in herbalism, organic gardening, passive solar design, photography and music.
Susan is a Licensed Massage Therapist, Master Herbologist and Certified Aromatherapist. She holds degrees in Accounting, Early Childhood Education and Fine Arts. She has owned and operated several creative and highly successful businesses. She has worked extensively with the City of New York in the Asbestos Litigation, is a winner of the prestigious international Maxi award for mall design, co-founder of a day-care for low income families and the creator of an organic botanicals line of products which has been recommended by Memorial Sloan Kettering to their radiation oncology patients.
Susan brings a deep sense of joy, caring and warmth to her clients and students. She is an intuitive body worker with advanced studies in Cancer Massage and Myofascial Release. Her passions include gardening, reading, traveling and meeting new people.
Together Scott and Susan continue their education with advanced studies in areas such as Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology and Kinesiology as well as Energy Medicine and personal spiritual pursuits. In their spare time Scott can be found on his tractor and Susan in her garden. The Human Element Center is their shared vision for connecting with the hearts of others and nourishing the human within.
Where we are.....
You can find us in Fort Andross Mill complex located on the Androscoggin River in Brunswick, Maine, just north of Portland, adjacent to Routes 1 and 95. This historic brick structure, once known as the Cabot Mill, has been rechristened "Fort Andross" after the original pre-revolutionary fort erected on the same site in 1688.
